2026 Impact Fund Finalist

Greetings Foundation Members,

The focus of the 2026 IMPACT FUND grant will be in the area of promoting youth leadership through education and community service. In various communities, systemic barriers exist that affect Black youth in both academics and community involvement.

Nonprofit organizations that focus on kindergarten through 12th grade students to promote a holistic approach, combining education and community service with clear, measurable outcomes in academic performance, leadership skills, and community service to create well-rounded future leaders are essential to developing that pipeline of leaders.

The 2026 IMPACT FUND grant will be awarded to the nominated nonprofit organization that best exemplifies, in the eyes of the Foundation membership, “Bridging Education and Community Service to empower Youth in the Black Community.” By focusing on community-based initiatives, the grant fosters pride and connection to heritage and aligns with our priorities of equity, inclusion, and access.

The Impact Fund Committee (IFC) reviewed and vetted all submitted applications and the following is the slate of the finalist. The IMPACT FUND has been designed as a “Donor Advised Fund”, which means that the designee of the grant award will be decided by the organization receiving the most votes of the Foundation membership present at the Annual Corporate Meeting in July 2026 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Any questions related to the IMPACT FUND can be directed to the IFC Chairman OLMF Region 8 Director, James R. Ball at jrbqmsu@yahoo.com.

The 13th Man

The 13th Man organization respectfully seeks support from the Omega Life Membership Foundation, Inc. Impact Fund to expand its mentor and leadership development programming for the 12–18-year-old young men members located in Prince George’s County, MD; Washington, D.C.; and Charlotte, NC. The 13th Man exists to prepare young men for success by providing consistent mentorship, leadership training, academic accountability, and exposure to opportunities that build confidence, discipline, and purpose.

Central to this work is the 13th Man Leadership Academy, a structured, 9-month program designed to develop responsible, accountable, and service-minded leaders. The Leadership Academy emphasizes core leadership competencies including communication, emotional intelligence, decision-making, goal setting, and personal responsibility. Participants are held to clear standards related to attendance, academic performance, conduct, and follow-through—reinforcing the understanding that leadership begins with self-discipline and integrity.

A distinguishing feature of the Leadership Academy is its direct connection to earned corporate summer internships. Internship placement is not automatic; it is contingent upon demonstrated growth in accountability, professionalism, and maturity. Through strategic partnerships with businesses and community stakeholders, participants gain real-world exposure to corporate environments, professional expectations, and viable career pathways. These experiences often represent participants’ first access to professional networks and income-producing opportunities, significantly impacting their long-term economic outlook.

The impact of the 13th Man aligns closely with the mission of the Omega Life Membership Foundation. Participants who once lacked confidence now speak openly about higher education opportunities at institutions such as Bowie State, Howard University, and Morgan State University. Young men who were previously disengaged develop the confidence to participate and lead discussions on identity, mental health, academic achievement, and social and community responsibility. The program’s ripple effect strengthens families, supports safer communities, and develops young men embark on learning the responsibility to give back.

Rho Gamma Gamma, Inc.

Rho Gamma Gamma Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for profit organization runs, organizes, and operates the OMEGA Y.E.S. male youth mentoring program that serves the Chicagoland area and the Chicago Public Schools focusing on black male youths from the ages of 12 to 18 years old, or 6th grade through 12th grade students. This program focuses on the development of young men to teach them life skills, financial skills, mental health awareness and training, self-esteem building, etiquette, decorum, respect for humanity, social and economic awareness, social justice advocacy, STEM, FASFA workshop training, voting rights advocacy and voter registration importance, and assistance with post-secondary educational exposure and opportunities. In addition, we incorporate community service as a staple to ensure our young people know the value of giving to the community. The program runs in 15–25-week modules with a rite of passage ceremony at conclusion.

The introduction to the program is specifically designed to address social injustice and the ways to combat such ills and the long history of advocates for change dealing with that topic. The program runs all year on multiple sites. We have expanded the program to not only our facility, but we have created partnerships with an additional high school: Hirsch High School which permanently operates as well. In addition, the program operates with an even younger audience at two elementary schools: Scott Joplin, and Drake. This funding will not only allow the program to grow in terms of expanding the mentee numbers but the overall expansion of activity exposure for each mentee. In addition, it is our goal to keep as many young men as possible from being introduced or revisiting the criminal justice system by providing this avenue of intervention through mentor engagement. Further, we aim to reduce the mental health issues that systematic trauma that each young male may face in their daily lives. Moreover, the program exposes them to numerous cultural, professional, and social experiences to help enrich and enhance each participant, like Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway, hot meals to seniors, and Christmas cards to seniors as well. We continue to foster working relationships with partners that can enhance our mentees such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and NASCAR Chicago. Both of which have provided great learning opportunities and exposure for our young men.

We currently are serving 150 young men per year through the program. With your help in funding, we can increase that number potentially to 200 young men. That would be an increase of almost 35 percent in young men who would be able to participate in the program. That would be a tremendous accomplishment and impact on young people’s lives. Currently over thirteen thousand mentor hours have been donated in the mentoring program The long-term goal is to build better communities from developing the young men through the aforementioned that will one day become leaders within them, one young man at a time.
